Kite enemies through the explosive mushrooms and use the explosive pots. If there is nearby water or a pile of bones, kite the enemy back so that you can attack them while they are on the unstable ground (All attacks critically hit targets that are on the unstable ground). Finally if you use discord, I'm sure some of the folks on our channel (who are much better than me) could give you better advice: edit | deleteĪfter playing over 30 games, I can safely say the #1 thing you can do to improve your gameplay is to use your environment to fight the enemy. If you find yourself dying a lot with an inventory full of stuff that could have saved you, that's a good place to consider improving. A lot of RPGs have sort of trained us to never use potions or scrolls since we can always reload the game. Another important one is to use your consumables. Another big tip is to make sure your resting sufficiently between fights (though this has to be balanced with food consumption). You pretty much have to take those situations like a chess game and really think through each move. I think the most critical thing most players miss in roguelikes is that they just play to fast, and don't carefully take each move when in dangerous situations. I think its a combination of just slowly learning the game (which you're already doing), and applying general rogue like strategy. Especially the ones with tons of ranged/magic mobs. 9) If your build feels weak, skip side areas. Keep +3/+4/+5 stuff around for transferring tables.

8) Keep enchantment scrolls/tables until you find a good weapon base that will carry you through the game.

Don't use them just4fun, though, especially hellfire scrolls. If there is a chance to get killed next step, use scrolls/potions. 6) For all: Use skill points mainly for dmg. Lure groups or ranged mobs around corners and wait - let them come to you. 4) Stay away from corrosive slimes, hit only with ranged or non-enchanted weapons. 3) Kill priority: Magic casters, then ranged, then melee. 2) Outrun slow+tanky enemies by going diagonally (combine with ranged attacks). Lure groups into small passages/traps/unstable terrain. Tips: 1) Don't rush enemies head-on, unless you can kill them without taking dmg.
